WebSigners are tools which help for web security requirements which involve signing of information and transactions via PDF sources, XML sources and other kinds of text based sources (such as .zip, .doc, .xls, .ppt, etc.). The main purpose of having this product is the ease-of- integration directly within various transactional processes which involve usage of such document formats to handle them. This makes the process more secure, convenient and productive in the long run.

The other features of the WebSigner are as follows:

• XML and PDF signature details can be viewed within their respective editors since signature is embedded within the documents
• F&T (File & Text) signature details cannot be embedded within the to-be-signed (the data signed on) files or texts and can be viewed only with the help of other APIs or online Web services
• WebSigner applets can only run with JRE (Java Runtime Environment) 1.6 and above

The standards followed by each format for signing is as follows :

• F&T Signer – PKCS7 standard
• XML Signer – W3C standard
